The performance »meditatio« exposes generative design with brainwaves. The analogue human is the centre stage, whose inner process is projected digital to the outside. The connecting code is the interface. If you achieve a state of deep relaxation and concentration, the brainwaves are shaping a perfect circle. The experience is enhanced by a real time heartbeat sound.
Getting the raw-data out of the EEG and convert/analyse them was very complex. The data was used in a realtime engine to generate the projection on the floor. The entire experience runs perfectly synchronised via 4 different computers. There was a lot of testing to get to the final result.
The experience: I am sitting in the center of a big black room. The radius of a big spot is getting smaller and smaller. When the light is off, you can hear my realtime heartbeat. After a short time, a projection appears. 50 lines are drawing a round shape around me. They symbolize the chaos and distraction of my thoughts. In the next few minutes I try to meditate. The experience is finished when you can see a perfect and small circle around me. This symbolizes the focus and peace of the meditation.
In an over 10 meter long leporello, the visitors could read about the background of the experience. Some pages have hand-drawed elements on it.
